PTS Lore Drop: Celestial Bonds & Devil in the Deep Blue Sea

Hey hey, I’m back with another weapon, and some more lore to go with it! This week we have Devil in the Deep Blue Sea, the hydraulic harpoon wielded by Héctor “Lázaro” Estrada-Gutierrez, who has nicknamed them Davy. As mentioned in a previous lore drop, some Celestial Weapons are so bonded with their wielders that they actively reject and hurt anyone else who tries to touch them. Davy is one such weapon.

You might be wondering, what is the purpose of the celestial bond? The simple answer is this: Sori-kaina, very aware of their physical limitations in their base structure, form social bonds with organisms to create a symbiotic relationship and improve their own ‘lives.’ Since, as crystals, they are stationary and helpless, they provide physical and mental benefits to their companions in return for the opportunity to experience life the way a normal organism might. Their organic companion will carry them, protect them, etc. and in return they are made stronger, faster, more aware, and overall better equipped to survive. As Xuaci developed civilization and no longer needed to rely on Sori-kaina to increase their chances of survival, the more the bond between Sori-kaina and Xuaci grew to be about social, emotional, and mental improvement for both parties. By the point where they left Xua, the Xuaci had integrated Sori-kaina so deeply into their society that they no longer remembered life without them.

When the Xuaci came to Earth with the limited amount of Sori-kaina they were able to save, they introduced the concept of the symbiotic bond between them to humans. Mankind was skeptical at first, but after experiencing the benefits of the psychic bond, they grew more in favor of it. Due to how limited Sori-kaina were, however, the benefits had to be restricted to the Heavenly Forces (and the rare few pieces that have been sold illegally and circulate around the rich elite.)

And that’s what I’ve got for you this week! If you’re curious to learn more about Sori-kaina, be sure to check the PTS tag here, and feel free to ask questions!
