A sensitivity reader evaluates your manuscript for language, character portrayal, traits, plot points, or similar that may be problematic or less than ideal. If you’re concerned with being respectful to a character outside of your lived experience, a sensitivity reader might be right for you.
What I will provide sensitivity reading for includes:
• Neurodivergency, with a focus on Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and AuDHD.
• Chronic illness, with a focus on permanent injury.
• Trans experience, binary or nonbinary.
• Queer experience.
• Being fat in society.
$3.00 per 1,000 words.
Your sensitivity read will include in-document comments, which are provided either in Google Docs, a Word document, or Ellipsus, depending on your preference, as well as a full letter that will provide bigger picture feedback for the work as a whole.
Please note, I will only speak on things I feel qualified to, so if the character(s) involve multiple traits you feel require a sensitivity reader and I don’t cover all those traits, I cannot provide a full read of that character. Always pick a reader that fits best for your project.
There is a $50 minimum charge for this service. Orders of $150 or more qualify for a payment plan, which we will work out while negotiating the details of the service.
