Howdy, it’s time for another PTS lore drop! Today I would like to talk about a very important aspect of Pierce the Sky: the Heavenly Forces. This is the global military unit meant to save Earth from the future invasion of the alien hivemind force known as the Kureh-sha.
The Heavenly Forces is divided into four divisions: the Chorus, the Arches, the Masses, and the Civilities. Here is a brief description of each division:
The Chorus: the most elite soldier of the Forces, the ones they call the Angels (Xel-taiga in the Xuaci language.) Each Angel is paired with a cluster of Celestial Quartz (Sori-kaina) that is forged into a nanotechnological battle suit and a specialized weapon. These are what make Angels so special. Each weapon and suit combination, referred to as a Celestial Set, has a code name assigned to it by the person who designed and forged it. For example: Suzuka’s twin laser sabers are known as Phantom Blades. No two weapons possess the same name, and they keep their names when they pass from one Angel to another. There are 50,000 Angels in the Chorus, 7,000 for each continent and then 1,000 who are the top of the top and have free reign to go anywhere they want to in the world.
The main members of the Chorus we follow in PTS are:
- Suzuka, wielding Phantom Blades.
- Tsuki, wielding Kokuryūnotsume (Claws of the Black Dragon.)
- Lázaro, wielding Devil in the Deep Blue Sea.
- Yo, wielding Semi-Automatic Sky Rider.
- Ma-heen, wielding Sinister Embrace.
The Arches: the Xuaci-olokan and humans who are responsible for creating Celestial Sets, otherwise known as Starsmiths and Starseams. A Starsmith designs Celestial weapons while a Starseam designs the clothes that house the suit side of the Celestial Set. There are 100 Starsmiths for every 1,000 Angels, but only 20 Starseams in the entire Forces. Starsmiths work with a handful of others to create their Celestial Sets, but design them entirely on their own. Starseams design clothes on their own, but then each one has a large team of workers who bring their designs to life.
The main members of the Arches we follow are:
- Aaz-min, Starsmith and creator of Phantom Blades and Devil in the Deep Blue Sea.
- Lovet, Starsmith and creator of Semi-Automatic Sky Rider.
- Saa-bu-rou, Starsmith and creator of Kokuryūnotsume.
- Madlee, Starseam and designer of Suzuka’s “combat cardigan.”
The Masses: basic soldiers equivalent to what would be in a general military. They sometimes have access to Celestial technology, but generally they are just your average military unit. The VAST majority of Angels are chosen from the Masses. Masses are often loaned out to the militaries of their designated countries, but can be moved around freely across the world as needed.
There aren’t any Masses we really follow with in PTS… yet? We’ll see!
The Civilities: all the civilian workers who are not soldiers, but are important to the running of the Heavenly Forces. Researchers are also categorized as Civilities. Anyone with clearance to work on a Celestial Base that is not considered some kind of soldier, smith, or seam falls into this final division, making it the largest one of the Forces.
The main members of the Civilities we follow are:
- Raleigh, one of the head mechanics.
- Gen-eva/Azi, a research intern focusing on the history of the Forces and Angel combat data.
- Arisu, a research intern studying the mental-emotional bond between Angels and their Sets.
- Tsu-ba-sa, a research internet studying human-alien interpersonal relationships.
- Sae-ya, a therapist who works primarily with Angels.
In a previous lore drop I wrote up some info on a lot of the characters mentioned in this post. If you’re curious about that, click here to read up on a bunch of them!
And that’s all for today’s lore drop!
